kiddo yoga, frames, finger paint & fun

Espen and I got to go to child/parent yoga again on Saturday but before we left Espen impressed me with his chocolate milk making ability.

1. pour milk and hershey syrup in a cup


2. be sure to add little rubber stopper gadget to your sippy cup lid


3. mix milk and syrup with a spoon, ask mom to help if it gets to messy


4. screw on lid, drink up



I am going to blame the chocolate milk at 9:30am on Espen's strange behavior at yoga. One minute he's asleep on the yoga mat, the next minute he's jumping on my back like a monkey. He was all over the place. I felt bad because all of the other little kids were so well behaved. I had to explain to him that when he starts school he is going to have to try his best to behave and always listen to the teacher. I think that was a concept that a)he's not used to & b) he needs to learn. Such a weird conversation to have with someone.

As much as he was a little on the wild side, he was also incredibly helpful. I am ALWAYS late to work so in the past month I have sped up every clock around the house, including my cell phone and computers (somehow I still manage to end up late to work) so we got to Desert Song about 20 minutes early so Espen helped set up the room with yoga mats and bolsters and was equally as helpful cleaning up.









After yoga I wanted to head over to Michael's to see if I could work out a little deal between Michael's and Aaron Brother's to get my print framed.

I took the quote for the frame, with the 60% off applied, that Michael's gave me and ran over to Aaron Brother's where I have a gift card. Their quote was actually less than Michael's AND I got the sweet sale price.

Here's a little teaser of what will be in our bedroom in about 12 days.




I took a chance with the bright yellow frame but I think the black filler with the raised dots will bring a bit of chicness to it. (is that a word?)
I can't wait to see it!!

Since I got such a screamin' deal on the frame AND because Espen was such a good boy at Michael's and Aaron Brother's I told him he could pick out something to take home. He picked a finger painting kit. This kit rules! Super easy to clean up, way easy to use and such a good idea. Not only is it a finger paint set but after you 'paint' on a hard plastic surface you lay a piece of paper on it, roll it with a sponge roller and when you lift the paper off you end up with a nifty little print.















The boys finished up the day with a hair cut. This was a big deal since Espen actually let Jeremy use the clippers on him!! He told me that he can use the clippers now because he's a big boy. haha!








While the boys were busy with their haircuts I satisfied a wild, out of no where craving that I had for Souper Salads fettuccini salad. I haven't eaten it in almost 10 years but it didn't matter, I had to have it. Souper Salad was just like I remembered, except a lot cleaner! And seriously, for $5 I filled up the to-go container with an enough assorted pastas that Jeremy, Espen and I all were able to have a little pig out session.

let's go to the movies

Jeremy called me at work early on Friday to tell me that the Mad Cap Theatre has a Spring Break special for the next two weeks and that one of the movies they are showing is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory!! I was so excited to hear this and asked if we were going to see it on Saturday to which he replied, 'Well, Espen and I are going to see it at 1:00 today'. What? So not fair. I didn't have anything going on at work so I asked my manager if I could slip out early to catch the movie with Jeremy and Espen and of course she said yes.

We had no idea how many kids, if any, would be at the theatre when we got there. Turns out, no one else was there. We had the entire theatre to ourselves, I felt like we were in Annie!!


Totally empty awesomeness

Espen sat on my lap for half of the movie and I caught myself and Jeremy both dosing off. Matinees are hard to sit through. But we stayed awake and had tons of fun. It was so cool to see Gene Wilder on the big screen.



Even though we stuffed our faces with popcorn during the movie we still wanted to grab a bite to eat so we headed to Bison Witches on Mill. Really, who named this place.

Such a good afternoon off, that is until we got home to find so disappointing news in the mail from ASU. Ah well, what's another year. We've been through worse than this so we'll just keep on keepin' on.

I finished off the night at yoga with Allison, our teacher was such a babe. Al came by for some wine for a bit and Jeremy snuck out to see Evil Dead at the Mad Cap. (he's obsessed) After Allison left I of course stayed up and studied Norwegian (i'm obsessed) till Jeremy got home...så gøy!!

Saturday was Child/Parent yoga at Desert Song and once again Kate and Stef joined in on the fun. The class was PACKED this time, they almost didn't let Kate & Stef in because there were so many people. It was a pretty entertaining class with there being to many kiddos. Espen & Stef were almost twins again in matching grey t-shirts and they were definitely the cutest little dudes in there. What? They were!

After yoga we headed over to Chipotle for lunch. Once again the boys were so good together and so cute. Stefan and Espen traded an Etch-a-Sketch for some airplanes and trucks, they were happy campers.





Once our belly's were full and the boys started to become antsy we headed over to McDonald's so they could let off some steam...and that they did.










This may look like a sweet picture of the boys playing together like best buds, but in fact, it was the complete opposite. Shortly after this picture was taken a small tear fest ensued and it was time to leave. All good things must come to an end...especially when dealing with 3 year olds, ice cream and video games.

I had such a great time with my lovely roomie and her son. I can't wait till next time!

they grow up way too fast

I called Desert Song to sign Espen and I up for Child/Parent yoga this weekend. The girl who took the call asked Espen's age and I blurted out, 'Almost 4'. Now I know his birthday is not for another 5 months but still, to say it out loud felt funny. How can he possibly be almost 4, that's practically 6 years old and 6 years old is OLD to me for kids.

So when I got to my sisters house for lunch I had another OMG 4 year old moment. I made a comment about how cute Espen looked in his SpiderMan shirt and then I remembered something. I remembered cracking up with Allison when Espen was just a teeny tiny guy, at the Spiderman shirt she bought him. She had told me on the phone that she didn't have any idea what size to get him so she bought the smallest. The smallest size was literally a Small/Chico. Ha. At the time he was wearing probably 12-18 months and only now is he fitting in to 3T jeans. I told Allison that I would keep the shirt for when he's older...well, I guess today he's older.

I asked Espen a few days ago if he wanted a pool party again for his birthday this year and he said no...he wants a Christmas party, with Christmas trees, snow and presents. Haha! We may just have to throw a Christmas in August pool party.

fabulous friday

Friday night was amazing. Allison & I went to yoga after work and again I had a great time in class. Oh how I love Laura. By the time I got home Tricia, Michelle and there boys had just arrived. We were all starving so after waiting 15 minutes for me to find something to wear we walked over to Los Olivos. There were 6 of us and 3 kids (under 4) but the host sat us in the bar area. We sat at a crappy black table with basically metal folding chairs surrounded by cougars and gross dudes. We were cracking up, why would they sit us there?? I asked the host if we could maybe sit in the restaurant side and he said 'Oh ya, of course, follow me.', like it was no big deal. Duh dude, you should have sat us there first. Ha.



It did not take long before 2 pitchers of margaritas hit our table followed by oh so yummy plates of fajitas, enchiladas and my favorite, chili relleno.









I swear Tricia was at dinner with us but every picture I have of her is the side or back of her head, damn it. And although I didn't have any pictures of her I did get some good ones of her beautiful little son, Jack. He is unbelievably cute.



Espen didn't last very long, it was super late so I am not surprised that he fell asleep in a really loud room filled with strangers yapping away, but that's okay, we all love to cuddle with him.

I think it was about 10:30 by the time we got home and that was it for me. Espen & I both crashed within 10 minutes of being home. What a wonderful night.

Speaking of smiles on my face, how cute is this picture of Espen at the pet shop. His face kills me. I'm so happy it's the weekend so I can have fun with this little guy.




Speaking of the weekend, it's Friday night and we should have a fun time tonight. Me and my lady friends are going to do some yoga, then afterwards head back to our place to change so we can walk across the street and stuff our faces at Los Olivos. So good!

I'm looking forward to making cake balls and hanging out with my family and I'm also looking forward to cleaning our home, it's a bit on the messy side...it doesn't take much to make 600 sq ft messy, so clean up should be a piece of cake balls. HA!
