apple store & four peaks

On Saturday we headed over to the Apple store at Scottsdale Quarter to finish the last step in fixing my laptop...purchasing a power cable. Easy enough. I was a bit bothered by the lack of customer service we received from the employees at the Apple store, that is, until John came up to me and asked if I needed help. The first thing I said to him was "Oh my God you are the first person to even make eye contact with me since we walked in here! Yes, I need help!' And help me he did. Not only did he confirm that it was the power cable but he cleaned the heck out of my dirty ol' computer, set up my touch pad so that I can just tap on it instead of using the little click bar, which is broken AND he told me that if I take my laptop back in and meet with someone at the Genius Bar they would most likely replace my cracked thingermajig near my keyboard for free...which would also replace my broken clicky bar and the entire top portion that is permanently filthy from my old smoking fingers. He basically saved me $1000 that I don't have for a new laptop. I love John and he loves my computer. Reason number 354 why I love my Mac.

While I was with John, my new best friend, Jeremy was with Espen who made a B-line for the kids video game area. He was glued to Wall-E.


So, the Scottsdale Quarter...I understand it is Scottsdale's tax $ answer to Phoenix's Kierland, but seriously, why was it not built in South Scottsdale. Um, hello. Sky song? Totally could have been, should have been the location for Scottsdale Quarter. Lame.

Sorry for the digression.

We were starving by the time we left the Apple store so we headed over to Four Peaks, yum!



As always, the food was DELISH! I had the breakfast burrito, so good. AND, the waitress told me that the Eggs Benedict burger is always available on Sundays. I know where I will be next weekend. That burger is a little slice of heaven drenched in hollandaise.

What came next was a whole lot of napping and late night snacking on my leftovers. Man, I love the weekends.

Read the little history page on Rivendell Cycle Works site, it makes me want to save up and buy the trunk sack so that Grant won't have to 'fret' about sales. haha. I also just like the idea of stuffing it full of snacks and digging toys for Espen, wine for me & some beers for Jeremy.

No plans for the weekend kind of weekend

Friday night's yoga class was amazing, again. I'd say half of the class went up to Laura, the teacher, after the class was over to thank her for such a wonderful class, me included. I even told the guys who run Club Sar to NEVER EVER let her go.

We didn't do much on Friday night. Espen stayed up with us while we watched some Alpine Skiing. Those guys are crazy! It was kind of hard not to fall in love with the Norwegian, Aksel Svindal, such a babe and an incredible story.

Jeremy has been trying to get me to watch the movie Blow for a while now so we poured some wine and settled in for movie. We had watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape the other night and man, both of these movies were so depressing. Blow was good, it was a sad, sad story and a true one which makes it even more of a bummer, but it was entertaining. I loved Johnny Depp’s hair in the movie, particularly when he was in the courtroom in Chicago. Not to mention his black trench coat with the color popped up, I loved it!



This whole weekend was pretty much a lazy blur. I had the best intentions of getting out of the house, but then came the rain. Ugh. There goes a walk around Civic Center or a bike ride to the park!

The morning started off quite nice, Jeremy was up before me and had coffee waiting for me when I finally decided to roll out of bed. While I was asleep and Jeremy was making coffee, Espen decided to take all of the pillows off of the couch to help make the walls of his 'corral'. He made me lay in it and pretend to be a 'mommy pig with pink skin'. Too funny. This was the only photo I could get of the corral, Espen's the blurry thing in the middle.


My mom brought me down an iron skillet this week, so once again I was determined to get this puff pancake recipe to work.



I decided to make some potatoes as well but before I knew it, Jeremy took over that pan. Man, he makes some delicious home style potatoes, secret weapon-cheese.

At some point during the day, Espen and I ended up taking a break from Astro Boy & the Olympics to draw some pictures. I could not believe what I was watching, he was actually drawing faces, bodies, hands and feet. Incredible. What a talented boy. :)

It wasn't until late at night that we finally made a trip to the store for Sunday's Crock Pot fixin's.

We sent Espen in with the list while we waited in the car. (and I know that I spell 'towels' wrong, always have)



Ya right! How cute are the little shopping carts at Trader Joes. They just opened the remodeled section of their store, it's SO nice and open!

We were so tired by the time that we were heading home that neither one of us wanted to cook, so off to Los Beto’s we went for some greasy Mexican food. Delicious.



After Espen went to sleep we ended up watching 5 episodes of The Deep End. Is anyone else watching this show? It's actually pretty good. I mean, it kept our interest for 5 episodes, so it must be good, right? I was teasing Jeremy that his life is going to be just like the kids on this show in a few years, hustlin' in a fancy law firm.

I think it's safe to say that Friday and Saturday were probably the laziest days we've had in a while. That is, until Sunday.

looks i like for spring

Seriously, I am so sick of Winter & you can hardly call Arizona's version of Winter, Winter, but I am still sick of it. With the cold weather and lack of sun has come dark un-motivating mornings and an extra 5 pounds.

I got in my car the other day when it was 76 out and for a minute I imagined it when its 110 out and your face feels like it's going to melt away. Sounds terrible? Not at all, what it reminds me of is that I can sit in a pool every weekend and get some sun on my pale glowing skin.

I'm hoping it will be like a domino effect. 1st comes warmer weather, which means I'll need to be in a swim suit soon and more sun means getting up early, both of which will lead to exercise and eating better, which means I'll look cute in all of the fabulous Spring/Summer outfits that are hitting the stores. Oh, and somewhere in there something needs to lead to more cash flow so I can purchase fabulous Spring/Summer clothes.



These are all from J. Crew, F21, Boden, Anthropologie & the Limited. Pretty reasonably priced to begin with, but I'll have to be sure to keep an eye out for when they go on sale.

Missoni & Mom & Michael J. Fox

We have a wedding to go to this weekend and I was thinking about what to wear last night before I went to bed. In my dream I was getting ready for the wedding and went to pull out this 70's cream colored knit dress that I own but when I pulled it out it was this amazing Missoni Madreperla dress.

It was beautiful and fit like a glove.
I also dreamt that my mom and Michael J. Fox were spies at a tech company and were in the process of breaking into said company's building to steal some sort of micro-chip. My mom was repelling out of a window, it was intense. But, since my mom doesn't know Michael J. Fox nor does she know how to repel it must've really only been a dream and when I get ready tomorrow I'll just have to pretend I'm wearing Missoni.

love small spaces.

This is probably one of my favorite House Tours on Apartment Therapy, ever! How great are the little pops of color throughout, from the pillows on the couch to the stacked books and fresh flowers near the bed. I love it. Not only is it beautifully decorated, it is just a tiny bit bigger than our place and it looks HUGE. Although we don't have an open living/sleeping space, it is still incredible how large a tiny home can feel. Makes me want to run out and find a little table for our front window, just big enough for my laptop, a cup of coffee and of course a wonderful table lamp.

this birthday present socks.

When my dear friend Sarah asked me what my favorite color and shoe size was I kind of had a feeling I would be getting some sort of knitted footwear. What I did not realize is that for my birthday I would receive one of, if not the most amazing handmade gift ever. These are not just socks, these are deliciously soft, perfectly fitting and intricately knitted cashmere/wooly foot candy. I do not own a pair of socks. If I need socks I stretch out a pair of Espen's. So, these socks, if you can even call them socks, are very dear to me now and thanks to the talented LimeJuicy my tootsies will forever be cozy.

On a side note, is it summer yet, my legs are whiter than they have been in ages.

how cool is espen?

He's super cool! And how cool is his Aunt Allison for buying him such cool 'fold up' shades? She also bought me Burgerville Hamburger Dressing while she was in Oregon. I have eaten it on practically everything: eggs, yep. chicken, yep. tuna sandwich, you bet.

And about those glasses, I was so jealous of Espen's new glasses I have since purchased my own pair of Wayfarers (yes Jeremy tells me I look like I am trying to be 18) and with this recent purchase I vowed NEVER to pay full price for anything again. I feel like a chump for ever spending full price on things like shoes, clothing and accessories. Almost everything I have purchased over the last 6 months is still out there to purchase but for a fraction of the cost. Case in point. New sunnies. Buy them new for $139 or get in a painless 45 second bidding war with someone on Ebay and pay $40. Come on! Need I say any more.
